Safety Traffic Commission

Statewide, RI

In order to enhance pedestrian and motorist safety throughout the state, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) sought a consultant to provide “on call/as-needed” traffic signal design and traffic engineering services associated with roadway and intersection improvements as approved by the State Traffic Commission (STC).

Bryant was hired as a consultant to perform the detailed design and construction plans as well as provide estimates for multiple tasks by the RIDOT Traffic Design Section or the STC. Additionally, upon request, Bryant would perform complete traffic counts, speed studies, crash analyses and delay studies. For the various tasks on this project, Bryant is designing roadway and intersection improvements including: new and updated pedestrian accommodations, such as curb ramps, crosswalks and pedestrian sign heads and batters; geometric improvements; upgrading traffic signal equipment; addition of turn lanes; bike path cross warning equipment and installation of new traffic signals.
