North Station Draw 1 Bridge Replacement – Boston, MA

While COVID-19 has halted many construction projects across the country, work on Boston’s North Station Draw 1 Bridge is deemed essential, so work continues amid new safety guidelines. Bryant is working as a sub-consultant to STV, Inc. on this project that involves the design, engineering and construction phase services for the replacement of the North Station Draw 1 Bridge No. B-16-479. The project includes design of a new six-track crossing of the Charles River consisting of movable bridge spans; replacement of a signals tower; replacement/rehabilitation of the approach structures; a new pedestrian walkway over the Charles River; and all associated track and signal work to accommodate each construction phase of the bridge replacement.

Our work includes providing base mapping of the entire project area; including aerial photography, high-rail Lidar, and bathymetric survey services. Survey data will capture features including track, switches, signals and other pertinent rail features. The existing bridge structure will be scanned via Terrestrial Scanner to capture detail to create an AutoCAD drawing that will be in conformance with a MassDOT bridge survey.
